William "Bill" Mercier

William (Bill) W. Mercier, 69, Catonsville, MD, passed away on November 13, 2023 after a hard fought battle with cancer.

William, fondly known to others as Bill, was born on August 6, 1954 to predeceased Anna Mary and Maurice Mercier, in Ellicott City, Maryland.

Bill is survived by his wife, Kim, his three daughters Kelli (her husband Mike), Kristina and Kasey (her husband Bryan), and five grandchildren, Isela, Averie, Lucas, Madeline and Shepherd. He is also survived by his three siblings, Robert (predeceased wife, Susan), Peggy (her husband Ed), and Mark (his wife Lisa), along with many nieces and nephews.

Bill was an avid golfer, season ticket holder of the previous Baltimore Colts, and avid longtime super fan of the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles and Maryland Terrapins. He spent 25 years as an entrepreneur and owner of Coney Island, in Lexington Market, fondly known as the coconut man. Prior to Coney Island, Bill spent many years in management with the Safeway Corporation, where he would ultimately return to as his place of retirement in 2022.

Bill, Mr. Bill, Billy, was the kindest soul, a loving husband, adoring father, a great friend, and he will be greatly missed. He will always be remembered for his beautiful smile, his highly irrelevant overly detailed stories and most importantly his sense of humor.

William’s service will be held at Catonsville Methodist Church at 2:00pm on Tuesday, November 21st. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Lung Association, the American Heart Association, or Gilchrist Hospice Care in Bill’s name.
