Terry Lee Bond

August 22, 1948 — January 16, 2024

Terry Lee Bond, a retired local vending company owner and operator, died peacefully in his home on January 16, 2024, from longstanding cardiac disease. He was the son of William M Bond, a supervisor at the Coca-Cola Company and Beverly Ruth Bond, a homemaker.

Following graduation from City College in 1967, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served six years as an Engineman. He had multiple tours of duty aboard the USCG Westwind, a 281 foot icebreaker, to Greenland and other locales. He then served aboard the Tackle, a tug based out of Curtis Bay, Maryland.

In 1968 he married his high school sweetheart, June Linzey, and they enjoyed 55+ years of a wonderful marriage. June said, “He was her rock and the strength of our family. In addition to a wonderful marriage, we were each others’ best friends.” Never blessed with “Two footed children”, they devoted their lives to rescuing dogs – many of which were special needs – and giving them a forever home filled with love and the health care that they needed. Their “girls” were their loves, and travelled everywhere with them in their motorhome. Their motto was “Where we go, our girls go”.

Terry battled undiagnosed dyslexia as a child, but as an adult realized that he was exceptionally brilliant in many areas. He enjoyed rebuilding his 1948 Ford pick-up, and helping family and friends with multiple projects. He was an avid crabber at their beloved week-end retreat, Beach Harbor, in Grasonville, MD., and shared his catch freely with family and friends. He believed in the Golden Rule, and would always do his best to do what was right.

In 1972, he and his wife purchased an older home in the Lake-Walker neighborhood of Baltimore City. They enjoyed “porch visits” with neighbors on their large front porch. Their little neighborhood was filled with the most caring neighbors who helped out in multiple ways during his illness. He was an avid gardener, taking great pride in his vegetables and his flowers, and sharing them with others.

Funeral services will be private - at his request.

Mr. Bond is survived by his beloved wife June, and his two current rescues – Rosie and Maya – who miss him dearly, along with many cousins, in-laws, and friends.
