There she met her husband to be, Frank Mendez, her soul mate of forty two years. In 93’ she returned to Baltimore with a family of her own and to be closer with her family. She worked as a substitute teacher at Violetville Elementary school and president of the Violetville Community Association to continue the improvement and safety of the community. Shirley loved meeting people and always had a funny story to share. To give a lending hand and help out in any way she could not only to friends and family, but to those in need. She loved to travel, board/word games, nature and would often identify her favorite birds. Once a week she would ask for an issue of the National Enquirer “just for the crossword puzzle”. Most of all, Shirley adored her grandchildren and loved doing arts and crafts with them. Services will be determined at a later date.
