Richard Allen Sewell, 61, of Baltimore, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. He was born on May 23, 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland where he lived for most of his life. After graduating from Bel Air High school in 1977, he studied culinary arts and kitchen management. He met his future wife and the love of his life, Wanda Socash, while attending culinary arts school, and they were married shortly thereafter in 1983. Richard was a strong willed individual who always stood by his personal beliefs. His family came first which was demonstrated by his obvious pride in the achievements of his daughters, Crystal and Stacy. He did his best to show his deep love and to support them even from afar. Richard was a devout Christian man, and was an active member within each of the church communities he joined. At the time of his death he was an active member of "Church at Baltimore" where he served as an usher and a fully participating member of the men's group. He clearly loved and was devoted to God, Jesus Christ, Bible study, Christian Music, and his families—both related and gathered. Richard was also an avid musician who enjoyed playing keyboard and percussion instruments whenever and wherever possible. He frequently reminded his daughters that great appreciation for his favorite band, "Journey," was a major influence on his love of music. Richard is survived by daughters—Crystal Lee and Stacy Lynn Sewell, sister—Donna Sewell, niece—Jessica Sewell, and nephew—Christopher Sewell. He was predeceased by his wife—Wanda Lee Sewell (nee Socash), Brother—William Andrew “Drew” Sewell, III, Mother—Arlene Ruth Sewell (nee Stedding), and Father—William Andrew “Andy” Sewell, Jr. Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, a small private graveside memorial service for family, close friends and church members will be held on Saturday, March 6th at 2 PM.
