Richard A. Hiteshew, a Registered Investment Advisor and President of Chesapeake Financial Corporation passed away on October 30, 2023. He was 82 years old. Richard was born in the Edmondson Village section of West Baltimore. One of fourteen children, he attended Saint Bernadine's Elementary School.
He was one of five hemophiliac sons. The Hiteshew family was studied by early genetic researchers, such as the father of medical genetics, world renowned geneticist, Dr. Victor McKusick.
After graduating from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, he began a long career in the insurance and investment business. He dedicated his life to his family and his community. He served on the board of the Institute of Notre Dame and the Catonsville Emergency Food Ministries. He was treasurer of the Catonsville Sunshine Rotary where he was named a Paul Harris fellow. He also served as treasurer for the Elkridge Rotary Club. He was awarded the Martin Luther King "Content of Character" award in recognition of his community service. He was an avid automobile enthusiast. He is remembered for his vast knowledge on many subjects, his sense of humor and his generosity. He was a caring father and loving husband.
He is survived by his sons Richard Hiteshew Jr and his wife Felisa and James Hiteshew. He is also survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Toni Carson, their children, Paul Hiteshew and his wife Ruth of Orlando, FL, Kathleen Hiteshew and her husband Kyle of Sykesville, MD, and Mark Hiteshew of Catonsville, MD. His six grandchildren are Ethan Grissom, Nathan Hiteshew, Maya Grissom, Brooks Hiteshew, Jebediah Grissom and Emmett Hiteshew. His surviving siblings are Stephen Hiteshew of Phoenix, AZ, Louise Lawson and her husand James of Ellicott City, MD, Walter Hiteshew and his wife Carol of Sykesville, MD and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at 11:30 am on Saturday, November 11 in the Narthex of Salem Lutheran Church 905 Frederick Road in Catonsville. There will be a memorial service at 1 pm in the church sanctuary.
