Nereida Carrion

Nereida (Nellie) Carrion was born on November 26, 1950, in Rio Piedras Puerto Rico.  She migrated to New Jersey with her parents at the age of 12.

She remained in New York throughout her adult life and raised her 3 children in Brooklyn, New York  before moving to Rochester, New York in the early 90's.

She received her education in New York.   Nereida became a certified nurses assistant and enjoyed helping people.

Nereida (Nellie) was full of life and light.   She enjoyed cooking, listening to music, dancing and entertaining at her house with family and friends.  She enjoyed watching movies with her grandchildren.

Nereida (Nellie) had a beautiful and vibrant personality and everyone loved her.   She was the light of the party and her smile lit up the room.

We take a moment of our time to pay tribute to the Celebration of Life for Nereida (Nellie) Carrion, a beloved Mother, Daughter, Sister, Grandmother (Nana) and Friend.   Although she is no longer here, she will remain in our hearts forever and we will remember the life she lived as she journeyed through this earth.

Nereida (Nellie) departed this life on July 19, 2024 surrounded by her children and grandchildren.   Predeceased by her parents Francisco and Maria predeceased by her siblings Maria and Francisco, she leaves behind her three children Angel, Onieka (Marcus), Francisco, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren along with a host of family & friends.

A Mother's Love

A Mother's love is something that no one can explain

It is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain.

It is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may

For nothing can destroy it or take that love away...

It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking,

And it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking-

It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns,

And it glows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems...

It is far beyond defining.  It defies all explanation.

And it still remains a secret like the mysteries of creation

A many splendoured miracle man cannot understand

And another wondrous evidence of God's tender guiding hand.
