Mathilda Gantt Thiemeyer

Mathilda Gantt Thiemeyer of Catonsville passed away peacefully on May 3, 2023 surrounded by her family. Til was born June 4, 1932 in Baltimore, MD and spent her childhood in Roland Park. She graduated from Eastern High School in 1950 and immediately began working at the investment firm of Baker Watts where she worked until she became a mother and home-maker. Til volunteered in many capacities at St. Agnes and St. Mark Schools while raising her family. She enjoyed a 20-year second career at Mount de Sales Academy where she was the Director of Admissions and Senior Class Advisor, among other positions.

Til was an avid reader and gardener who loved to travel far and wide with her lifelong sweetheart, the late Richard H. Thiemeyer, Sr. Til was predeceased by her son, Richard H. Thiemeyer, Jr. She is survived by her loving daughter Nancy Watts (Douglas). Til was predeceased by her sister, Steuart Wilson and brother William Gantt, Jr. and survived by brothers Charles and Robert Gantt and nieces and nephews; cherished Gammy of Danielle Thiemeyer, Cole Watts, Kyle Watts, Cooper Watts and Kevin Watts. Arrangements will be made for a private family celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be directed in Mathilda’s name to Mount de Sales Academy and sent to:
