Severn, Md.-Louis Albert Alicea, Lou to all who knew him, 86, husband of Marsha Bowen Alicea, mounted up with wings like eagles, on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at his home in Severn, Md. with his family at his side.
A Committal Service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Crownsville Veteran's Cemetery with Military Honors.
On the horizon in the morning of June 2, 1936, Lou was born in Ponce, PR to the late Leonsio Alicea and Minina Alicea-Acosta. Lou's family moved to NYC when Lou was four years old.
Lou was raised in Manhattan and at the tender age of 18, he proudly began serving in the United States Army, he then served for the Virginia National Guard and the United States Army Reserve, for a combined total of 30 years in the Armed Forces.
He was also a civilian employee for the Department of Defense, at ECS #86, Ft. Meade, Md for 27 years, where you could find him painting camo on a Humvee, or under the hood of a deuce and a half.
It was during this time Lou met Marsha, his best friend and confidant of 41 years, while attending night school to increase his military rank. He sat behind her in class and introduced himself, by passing her a note and asking her if she would like a "kiss". Then presented her with a Hershey Kiss.
Lou has enriched so many lives with his creased pant legs, integrity, honor, respect, values, standards, hard working, loyal, loving, caring and a pleasure to be around kind of personality.
Lou's enjoyed working in the yard, going to concerts, sleeping under the stars, relaxing by the river with a good cup of coffee, bird watching, westerns, classic movies, breathing in nature and marveling at God's creations. Lou was also a true road warrior and loved every moment roadtripping with his wife.
Lou was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Lou's heart was so full, it overflowed. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Shirley (Elbert), Louis (Elaine) and Ryan, five grandchildren, one great grandchild, three sisters, one brother, and many nieces and nephews.
