John Anthony Cangelosi

John Anthony Cangelosi, Sr., 80, died June 15, 2019 at College Manor in Lutherville, Maryland after an 11-month battle with cancer. John was born in West Point, Mississippi to Joseph Cangelosi and Rose La Scuola. Following a childhood move to Baltimore and graduation from Mount Saint Joseph High School in 1957, he served four years in the United States Marine Corps. In 1962, he began his career with the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, Maryland. He retired as a computer specialist 39 years later. In addition to West Point and Baltimore, John had lived in Woodlawn, Maryland; Reisterstown, Maryland; and Spring Grove, Pennsylvania. Over his life, his hobbies had included bowling, antique shopping, bird collectibles, Sherlock Holmes stories, and Laurel & Hardy films. He is survived by sons John Jr., Michael, and Scott Cangelosi; daughters-in-law Donna, Clarissa, and Rachael; grandchildren Allison, Kamiko, Francesca, Benjamin, Luca, Sim Michael, and Dominic; sisters Frances Bruns, Rose Reeves, and Mary Cangelosi; brother J. Marion Cangelosi; brother-in-law Thomas Bruns III; sister-in-law Marcelle Cangelosi; former spouse Lana Barrick; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. John was preceded in death by his wife Marie in 2016. Based on John’s wishes, his family will hold a private celebration of his life at a later date.
