Helga Cabral

Helga Irene Cabral, age 73, beloved sister, aunt, and friend to many, passed away November 4, 2023, in Catonsville, Maryland, after complications from illness.

Helga was born on August 2, 1950, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to Erika (Messer) and Ervin Bruesewitz, both of whom preceded her in death. Her beloved husband, Richard Cabral, died in 2009, in Santa Cruz, California, where they resided.

A graduate of San Jose State University, California, where she studied graphic arts, Helga also attended the University of Wisconsin, Fox Valley, and Madison. She graduated from Appleton West High School in 1968.

Her professional accomplishments included her work at Hart Graphics, her own studio, as well as McGraw Hill Publishing, Aptos Press, and the Haute Enchilada Art Gallery at Moss Landing, California. She enjoyed music, art, her family and friends, and daily walks on the beach.

Helga is survived by her sisters, Heike (Robert) Heraly, Clintonville, Wisconsin; Gisela Tuller, Port St. Lucie, Florida; Renate (David) Starck, Catonsville, Maryland; as well as brothers Raymond Bruesewitz, Appleton, Wisconsin; and Richard (Sally) Bruesewitz, Aitkin, Minnesota. The many nieces, nephews and their families showered by “Aunt Huggie’s” love include Christopher, Matthew (deceased), William, Aaron, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Sarah, Nathaniel, Theresa, Philip, Andrew, Rachael, Tyler, Lindsay, Alexander, Nicholas, Katherine, and Nicholas.

A family celebration in her honor will be held next summer.

The family thanks the staff at Frederick Villa Nursing Center in Catonsville for their loving care during her recent illness. We also thank Pastor Dave Asendorf of Salem Lutheran Church, Catonsville, for his prayers and guidance.
