Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Phipps

February 13, 1940 — January 30, 2023

Betty passed peacefully on January 30, 2023 after a brief illness. She was born to Ruth and Carl Eckert in Baltimore, MD on February 13, 1940. She attended Seton High School and married her childhood sweetheart, William Phipps, on May 30, 1960. They moved to Ellicott City and raised a family of six children to whom she was completely devoted and loving and serving until her last days. Betty was artistic and loved to read. Her deep faith in God is what grounded her through her life and how she embodied life itself. She loved all living beings and radiated her joy by being present in all things. Betty’s favorite moments were when she hosted her large family for holidays and gatherings sharing her love for cooking and serving those she loved. She was surrounded by her large family in her final days receiving support and thanks for a life so fulfilled. Betty is survived by her husband Bill; her sons John (Barbara); Chris (Leah); Matthew and her daughters Judy Small (Bill) and Mary Robinson (Paul); and eight grandchildren (Tony, Colton, Gabrielle, Zack, Billy, Emily, Elizabeth, and Oz) and her great grandson Tyler. She is also survived by her twin brother Fred (Carol) and her sister Mary along with countless nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved son Ed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gilchrist Hospice Care who the family cannot thank enough for the kindness, love and care in her final days.
