Earl Leroy Watkeys

Earl Leroy Watkeys, 89, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024.

He was born January 21, 1935 in Elizabethville, PA to the late Harold and Eva Stroehecker Watkeys.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years Melba and their daughter Jill. He is survived by his children, Steve (Tricia) Watkeys and Lisa Watkeys and his grandchildren, Lisa Marie Meola, Morgan Watkeys, and Sarah Watkeys.

Earl proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He went on to graduate from Penn State University and received his Masters degree from Loyola University.

He was an executive with Bethlehem Steel in Lackawanna, NY and Crown Cork and Seal in Baltimore MD.

Earl retired in 1990 and enjoyed traveling with Mel and Lisa Marie.

A private burial is planned.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Earl’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Society, your local volunteer fire company, or to a charity of your choice.

Also, the family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Oak Crest Village for their compassionate care of Earl.
