Curtis E. Smith, Sr.

Curtis E. Smith Sr, 57, of Columbus, KS, passed away on Wednesday March 18th, 2020. Curtis was born on May 12th, 1962 in Peoria, IL, the son of Gene and Linda (Zimmerman) Smith. He married Diane Ritthaler on July 19th, 1984. Surviving are his parents of Eureka; three children, Amie (Chad) Tysinger of East Peoria, Curt (Alicia) Smith of Hardin, and Megan Smith of Morton; two sisters, Darlene (DaVon) Mishler of Mishawaka, IN and Tamera (Matt) Gordon of Columbus, IN; grandchildren Faith, Ella and Zach; nephew Mason and niece Ava. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Amos and Gladys Smith, and his maternal grandparents, Walter and Mabel Zimmerman. Curtis graduated from Eureka High School, Class of 1980. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Fort Hays State University, Hays, KS in 2002, studying Animal Science. He was the Owner Operator of Grizzly Trucking, specializing in heavy haul loads. Curtis loved the Dallas Cowboys and spending time with his grandchildren. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial will be held at a later date.
