Cleatus Stanley Wiley “Stanley”, 84, of Arbutus, MD passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024. He was loved by all and known by many (affectionately by various nick-names: “Cleat” “Stan” “Pee-Wee” “Poppa-Bear” “Cle-at-us”). Stanley was kind, thoughtful, would do anything for his friends/family, and was such a gentle and loving soul. He had such a great outlook on life, as well as a great work ethic throughout his entire life. He had a tremendous respect for his superiors, his peers and all he came into contact with along the way. As a result, he earned their respect as well and his good name and reputation will far outlive him.
Stanley was a loving husband, great companion and provider to his wife and family. He was a wonderful Dad, being present and involved in all aspects throughout their lives. It was truly a blessing to watch him get to continue this with his grandchildren and again with his great-grandchildren with such joy and pride. As empty nesters, Stanley and the wife he cherished for 62 years (Verna) enjoyed many card games, jokes, movies, dining out, shopping and travels to Kentucky to visit relatives ensuing in more card games, food and fun!
Stanley is predeceased in death by parents, Stanley & Rosella Wiley; brother William and his wife, Edith; sisters, Doris (m. Joe); Lillian “Sis” (m. Leonard); and Rosella “Boots” (m. Wilbur, Marshall). He leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Verna Wiley; his 2 daughters, Teresa “Teri” Clark (m. Roy) and Michele “Shell” Massoni (m. Frank). He was a proud grandad “Poppy” to Clint Clark, Amanda Clark (m. Travis), Amber Massoni, Rachel Dolly (m. Michael “Mikey”), Natalie Jerousek (m. Christopher “Chris”), Jenna Osorio, and Elise Doak (m. Brian); and was completely blessed to be a great-grandad “Poppy” to Kristina “Stina” Witt (m. Robert), Dominic “Dom” Osorio (predeceased), Riley Massoni, Aiden Ballard, Emma Jerousek, Anthony Osorio, Lucien Osorio, Hailey Doak, Harper Doak, Laylah Michaels, Kenzleigh Dolly and Liam Dolly. Stanley is also pre-deceased in death and survived by several loving in-laws, many nieces and nephews and extended family.
There was always so much love in his heart, and he felt/raised us to believe that family isn’t only by blood. For the past 40 years, Stanley was a “bonus Dad” to Brenda Little (nee’ Thompson; m. David), to whom he affectionately called “Little Brenda Little”, and a “bonus Poppy Stanley” to her children, Jessica and Joshua Little.
“Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge,” Psalm 62:5 ESV
