Charles Joseph Rinaudo Sr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on November20, 2024, at Wilton Overlook, at the age of 95. Born on July 19, 1929, in Maryland, Charles led a life rich with dedication to family, service, and community.
Charles proudly enlisted in the US Naval Reserves on December 18, 1950, and was called to active duty in April of 1952. He served aboard the USS Palau (CVE 122) from October 15, 1952, until his honorable discharge on February 15, 1954. His service to his country was marked by numerous accolades, including the Korean Service Medal, the UN Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal, reflecting his commitment and bravery during a pivotal time in history.
Throughout his life, Charles embraced many interests and hobbies. He was an avid golfer who delighted in the game, sharing his passion with close friends and family. As a teenager he worked with his father his aunts and uncles as well selling produce as Hollins and Lexington Markets. As a dedicated father, he took great joy in coaching his children's little league baseball teams, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship. Additionally, Charles had a deep love for gardening, cultivating not just plants but also the beauty of nature around him.
Charles was a proud member of the Sons of Italy, the Knights of Columbus, and the VFW, where he demonstrated unwavering support for his community and fellow veterans. His contributions to these organizations were a testament to his character, as he worked tirelessly to uplift those around him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Carmilia Rinaudo; his children, Joseph C. Rinaudo, Paul A. Rinaudo, and Charles J. Rinaudo Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Rinaudo; and his cherished grandchildren, Mason Rinaudo and Taylor Rinaudo. He was predeceased by his son, Charles Michael Rinaudo, who holds a special place in the hearts of all who knew them.
Charles will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy continues to live on through his family and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.
The viewing will take place on November 25, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and then again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at MacNabb Funeral Home, located at 301 Frederick Rd, Catonsville, MD 21228. A Mass in his memory will be held on November 26, 2024, at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at Charlestown Retirement Community, followed by interment at Baltimore National Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
Charles Joseph Rinaudo Sr. will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
