Charles's life was a testament to the bonds of family and the beauty of shared moments. He was the devoted husband of Waltraud Rita Broughton, their love a beacon of strength that illuminated their lives for countless years. Together, they weathered life's challenges and celebrated its joys, creating a legacy of unity and unwavering love.
A nurturing father, Charles leaves behind his sons, Ricardo Williams and Nicolas D. Broughton, and daughter-in-law, Christina Rivera. His presence in their lives was a source of guidance and affection, shaping them into the individuals they are today. Charles's love extended to his grandchildren, Amani Broughton, Aolani Broughton, and Ayden Broughton, who will forever carry his warmth in their hearts.
Charles was a pillar of support for his extended family as well. He was a beloved brother to Betty Hayes-Anthony and her husband Willie, Jennell Henderson, Michael Hardin, Arlene Campbell of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Ronnie Hardin and his wife Kim of Jefferson City, Montana, and Meta Glass and her husband George of Bastrop, Louisiana. His presence brought comfort, and his camaraderie was cherished by all.
Among his passions, Charles was renowned for his mastery of the BBQ grill. The aroma of his cooking wafted through gatherings, creating lasting memories that centered around the joy of sharing a meal. He found solace and fulfillment in spending time with his grandchildren and extended family, where laughter and love were abundant.
Charles's dedication was evident in his professional journey. With steadfast determination, he dedicated 44 years of service in the federal financial service field, leaving an indelible mark on his colleagues and the industry he served.
An adventurer at heart, Charles's journey took him to Germany, where he spent 25 years of his life. It was there that he met the love of his life, Waltraud, and their love story became a foundation for the legacy they created together.
A celebration of Charles Edward Broughton's life will take place on Saturday, August 19, 2023,11:00am at Halethorpe Relay United Methodist Church. 4513 Ridge Avenue, Halethorpe, MD 21227. In his memory, the family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, https://stjude.org.
