Blaine R. Irvin of Arbutus, MD passed away peacefully on March 19th, 2021 at UMMC. Blaine was born in Oella, MD on July 7th 1932, one of eleven children to the late Charles H. Irvin Sr. And Gertrude Irvin. He is predeceased by his parents, Charles & Gertrude Irvin, brothers Maurice, Charles, Lou, Denny, Kurt and his sisters, Harriett, Peggy, Kay, and Diane and by his son, Charles H. Irvin III. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy H. Irvin (Hugel), and his daughters Sharon Missaglia (Irvin), Deborah Marsh (Irvin), and Patti Gamber (Irvin). Blaine is also survived by his grandchildren, Brian Gamber, Jaime Marsh, Adam Marsh, Erik Irvin, Jennifer Missaglia, Kristi Missaglia and his two great grandsons, Lucas Irvin and Rylan Gamber. He is also survived by his brother Kenny Irvin. After graduating from Catonsville High School Blaine served in the Navy during the Korean War abroad the USS Sicourney and is a member of the American Legion, Halethrope, Md. Blaine worked for the Baltimore Gas & Electric Co. and later for Gundry Hospital and St. Agnes Hospital. Blaine was a life long Lutheran and served as Elder for Bethany Lutheran Church in Violetville, Md for many years. In his role, he enjoyed writing and delivering the Sunday sermon. Blaine enjoyed carving wooden plaques for family and friends. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports. He was an avid reader, especially biographies. Blaine will be laid to rest at Baltimore National Veteran Cemetery in Catonsville, Md. with close family in attendance.
