Roop C. Sharma

Roop C. Sharma Passed Away on April 9, 2023 in his home. He was born on January 24, 1942, in India, and was the oldest of nine children. Roop came to the U.S. in the 1960s and worked for Pan Am Airlines. While working there, he was drafted in the U.S. Army, where he loved being a soldier. He served two years in the Vietnam War and one tour in the Gulf War, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major after 27 years of duty.

After his Army service, he started a stone business importing granite, marble, and stone products from India and selling wholesale. His highest education was a Master's degree that he received from Central Michigan University. He loved history, politics, reading books, and traveling, as well as going to the gym to exercise.

He is survived by his wife, Julie B. Jarrell Sharma, his brothers Dr. Sant Kumar and Dr. Chandra Kiran Sharma, and sisters Krishna Sharma, Nirmala Sharma, Kamlesh Sharma, and Bimlesh Sharma. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Brenda Young and her husband William Young, Nancy Mason and her husband Ralph Mason, and brother-in-law Ronald Jarrell. Roop's son, Anil K. Sharma, and his wife Dipt Rach, and his grandchildren, Aroon K. Sharma and his wife Coraine Tate, Antia Sharma, and Aartee Sharma, and daughter, Nilum Sharma, and her husband Gyan Sharma, and his granddaughters, Mohinee Sharma and Sohini Sharma, as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Roop's very good friend Rajender Sharma and his wife Manju Sharma will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Pirthi Singh Mukhia, whom Roop adored and always talked about, wanting to make him proud. His parents father Raghuvir Dutt Sharma and mother Kalish Wati Sharma. His younger brother  Subhash Chand Sharma and his sister  Shobha Sharma.

The service will be conducted by Pastor Harry E. Connor, a dear friend, at McNabb Funeral Home, located at 301 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228. On Saturday, April 22, 2023 Visitation will be at 10:30 AM, and the service will start at 11:00 AM. Inurnment Private.
