Michael Thomas Mcelroy

On Wednesday, September 1st, 2021, Michael Thomas McElroy passed away at age 77, after a long battle with cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Michael was born on September 17, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA to Michael Thomas McElroy and Mary Kelly McElroy. He graduated from Villanova University in Economics, and he earned a Master’s degree in psychology in Catholic University. Since 1985 he worked independently as a certified public accountant. He married Alison Baker in 1982 and they raised two sons: Michael, born 1985 and Richard, born 1989. In 1994 their marriage ended by mutual agreement. In 2014 he married Manuela Renata Carvalho, with whom he shared the last twenty years of his life. The greatest source of joy in Michael’s late life were Enzo, his second’s wife grandson born 2015, whom he considered his own, and Stanaslas, Michael Jr.’s son, born 2019. Michael enjoyed good books, good music, good food, good cigars and good friends. He was a skilled dancer in many styles, and dancing to live music was one of his greatest social pleasures. He was known for his quick wit and his unstoppable sense of humor. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Michael T. McElroy, his mother Mary Kelly McElroy, his little brother Ricky and his sister Kathy. He is survived by wife Manuela, his children and grandchildren, his brother Bob, his sisters Maureen, Denise, Susan, their children and grandchildren and other relatives. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 10th, 2021, at the MacNabb Funeral Home, 299 Frederick Road, Catonsville MD, from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
